Dear Sir(s) ;
This is a letter to understand the visitors policy of your Gallery .
My daughter wanted to see the Frida Kahlo Exibition in August 2018 .
She is REFUSED by your ticket Office , telling her that she CAN NOT buy tickets for Frida Kahlo Exibition .
And added that , the Exibition is open JUST-FOR-EU-CITIZENS !...
I want to learn some more about this discrimination , so that I may apply for EU Congress for the HUMAN RIGHTS ...
1) Is this rule a dictate to Hungarian Culture Dept.(or to Government?) by the Mexican Olmedo Museum Directors?
2) Is this rule a ''self-decided'' subject by the museum directory(Laszlo Baan?or some other person?)
3) Is this rule obligatory according to EU Citizenship laws?
4) Is this rule valid ''just'' for Turkish Citizens?
Please be kind to inform me about this misunderstanding of mine .
So that I can understand how it is possible to break her hearth in the middle of Europe ?
Humiliated(ly) yours
Dr.iklil KONYALILAR

Dear Dr.iklil Konyalilar,
Thank you for your letter about your daughter’s experience in the Hungarian National Gallery, I was sorry to read what happened to her at the cash desk. I have contacted the head of the cashiers, forwarded her your feedback and investigated the case.
I can conclude that there must have been some kind of misunderstanding in your case. I would like to ensure you that our museum does not refuse anybody from entering the museum regarding their nationality. Naturally our exhibitions are open to any visitors from all around the world.
The misunderstanding might have happened regarding our concession policy. The concessions available for visitors of state-funded museums in Hungary are regulated in the national operative law titled Concessions available in Museums, No. 194/2000 (XI.24.), that we should apply.
The related part of this regulation /2.§ (1) and (3)/ defines the limitation as the listed concessions are available only to those having citizenship in one of the member states of the European Economic Area. Presumably your daughter is under 26, so she might have applied for the 50% discount.
As Turkey is not part of the European Economic Area, our cashier could not give her a discounted ticket. Turkish citizens like anybody can visit all of our exhibitions for a normal price ticket.
Please consider the attachments about how the prices and concessions are presented at our ticket desk. Also you can have a look at our website, under Visit / General information / Admission / Concessions:
Concessions | MNG
As I have written above we welcome visitors from all around the world and we have no intension to reject or discriminate our visitors. The rule you mentioned in your letter is related only to discounted tickets. We kindly ask for your understanding regarding the law.
Sincerely,
Barbara Gellén

(3) Yine bir cevap yazdım.....Çaresizlik
Dear Mrs.Gellen ;
Thank you for your kind answer including the Concession Policy of the Hungarian National Gallery .
Before I left my wife&children at the entrance road of the Gallery , I've checked your price list and aware of the ticket prices very well ...
And I warned them to pay ''ANY PRICE'' for my daughter -student(under26) or not !..
The exact words she is told are these : ''..Whichever ticket you buy , you can ONLY visit the OTHER halls , not the Frida Kahlo Exibition!..''
Anyway , it is good to hear that there is NO RULE to avoid non-EU Citizens to visit an art gallery .
Since art should(and would) connect us together , not to discriminate .
However , I will show her Frida Kahlo paintings on the e-net and let her know about your polite answer .
Thank you
Dr.iklil KONYALILAR
